Sir,
At the very outset – your post really does make it simple for confused students like myself! Thanks a ton!
There is, however, a loophole I face to which I can find no answer…..and hence I turn to you.
As mentioned above, the Eligibility for the Quota in NITs etc. is :
must be Foreign Nationals/Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) studying in any country (including India).
However, nowhere is the eligibility for OCI (Overseas Citizens of India) mentioned.
The OCI card (which supplements the passport) mentions that OCI holders enjoy benefits equal to those of NRIs with reference to educational fields and a few others, but would there be a specific way to double-check the same ?
Thank-you
Dear Nakhare,
Since DASA scheme includes both Foreign Nationals and NRI, you can apply in either category. I guess the rules with regard to place of studies for 11/12th std is favourable in case of Foreign National, FN category will suit you better.

Raj
hello sir,
i would like to express my gratitude for such great and important
information you have provided all of us and it is seriously of great
help.SAT-2 as i have hear from my friends who are doing IB and
have given it already, is relatively very easy , In fact many of my friends
have scored in the range of 770-800 in pcm , so i reckon tht it should
be easy as the likes of cbse nd ISC are much tougher than this.
sir i have few questions in my mind-
1. I have done my education from an indian school in singapore , and
would be moving to delhi for undergrad, recently i had seen on
HINDUSTAN TIMES tht DTU/DCE has recently allocated seats for
NRIs/pios , but the same info hasnt been updated on their website ,
do u have any info regardin tht?…
2. which engineering option would be viable?…ECE? IT? ya mechanical?
whats their scope???
3. and which are the best colleges in delhi for engineering ,baring IIT ND DCE n NSIT?
I agree that SAT II exam is easy and would also like to state that getting 800 in 3 subjects is tough. Till 2003, when IIT used SAT II scores for NRIs (this is no longer the case as IITs have no NRI quota now), one needed to score 3 perfect 800 to get Computers. This year I expect the same i.e. 2400 score for NITK-ECE or CSE.
1) As of now, no such scheme offered by DCE for NRI.
2) The top 5 branches are ECE, CSE, Mech, EEE, IT
3) I would not recommend any other college in Delhi barring the ones you listed.
Thanks a lot for the advice sir.

i had read the info regarding the admissions in DTU, though i am not sure how valid this info is as they have nto updated their website for the same.
It has been already decided dat saarc countries students studying in India will have to pay as that of normal Indians but in new dasa scheme it hasn’t been mentioned.isn’t it valid for NITs?????
Per latest dasa rules, Foreign Nationals from SAARC countries have been provided 50% fee waiver provided the candidate is studying in SAARC country only. It can be interpreted that SAARC students who are studying in India should get 50% tuition fee waiver.
Dear Rao,
The revised DASA rules specify Mathematics Level II exam. The letter ‘C’ in IC or IIC specify that calculators are allowed for the exam.
Just for the sake of clarity (though Level I is not accepted by DASA), Level I exam covers smaller/easier syllabus but that also means that scoring 800 would be tough. For example, a score of about 45 out of 50 questions in Level II can earn a score of perfect 800 but in Level I exam one needs to score 48-49 correct to get a perfect 800 as lot of students push the bar of 800 score higher.

Raj
Dear Alok,
Dasa rules on document submission is bit vague as it asks to submit ‘authenticated transcript’ of all documents. What it probabily means is you take a printed copy of the online score, take a photocopy and go to embassy to ‘authenticate’ the photocopy document. The best way is to ask NITK as to what to do with online score.

Raj
Response from NITK
Dear Sir,
Yes, we accept the hardcopy of the SAT II score as well. We are also making arrangements to get the scores directly from CollegeBoard too.

Thanks a lot Mr Puri. Such feedback actually helps each one of us.
