DASA SCHEME/ NRI QUOTA/Best DASA colleges
There is an updated post on the topic at below link
DASA-scheme-admissions-to-engineering-colleges-for-nris-pios/
There are 3 ways in which children of NRIs can be admitted to engg institutes in India. NRI students desirous of seeking MBBS admissions in medical colleges have only one way to get admitted- private medical colleges under NRI Quota (there is a separate post on this topic here) . Following discussions is useful for engineering admissions:
1) The DASA scheme for NRIs in NITs: Main criteria is that the NRI student has to study 2 years (11th and 12th) outside india, get SAT 2(Subject Tests) score above 1440 in physics, chemistry & Maths and pass 12th qualifying exam with min. 60% marks. More than 30 reputed NITs, IIIT and PEC are covered under this scheme. Annual fee is about $7000.
The details of DASA Scheme 2010-11 has been published by NIT-Surathkal and details are available at separate post link per below
DASA Scheme 2014-15 Admission to NITs for NRIs-Brochure
The list of colleges/institutes under this scheme, number of seats/branches for each institute and the application form can be downloaded from DASA/NRI Quota . The admissions to IITs is not applicable under DASA Scheme or NRI Quota or any other scheme. The admissions to IIIT Hyd is conducted separately , also called DASA Scheme by IIIT-Hyd, for which the details are available here.
2) NRI Quota: The key criteria is that the student has to to pass 11 & 12 from outside india with min 60% marks. VIT, PSG College, Thapar Institute-Patiala, RV College, DAI-IT-Ghandinagar, VJTI and Manipal are some of the other reputed colleges with NRI Quota (However, the fee varies from $8000 to $11000 per year). For more information on NRI Quota, please visit DASA/NRI Quota section of this website.
3) NRI sponsored Quota: The key difference being the NRI sponsored student need not pass 11 & 12th from outside india. The sponsor (father/mother/brother/sister) should be an NRI as per IT rules. Many private colleges (including VIT-Vellore) have few seats under this scheme. NO NIT has this quota. Please see below list of prominent private Institutes with whom EdCIL has MOU and offer NRI Quota including NRI sponsored category. However, it is advisable to contact these institutes to confirm if they still have a valid MOU for NRI Quota. The annual fee for NRI Sponsored Quota can range between US$7000 (RV College Bangalore), VIT-Vellore ($9000) to US$9000 (Thapar -Patiala)
Now, list of NITs most preffered by NRIs (in the order of ranking under DASA scheme)
DTU, NIT-Surathkal, NIT-Trichy, NIT-Warangal, NIT-Calicut, IIIT-Delhi, PEC, MNNIT-Allahabad and IIIT-Allahabad are the most popular per previous years preference by NRIs/PIOs.
The above list is followed by NIT -Jaipur, MANIT-Bhopal, VNIT-Nagpur, NIT-Kuru, NIT-Rourkela, SVNIT-Surat, NIT-Durgapur and NIT Jalandhar.
Starting from 2010, DASA scheme merit list would be based on SAT II scores in Maths II, Physics and Chemistry. It would be prudent to score in excess of 730(out of 800) in each of the 3 subjects in SAT II to have any hope of getting the branch and college of your choice.

Sir
I am wroking in Abu Dhabi. My daughter is studying Plus 2 at Trichur, Kerala. She is appearing for AIEEE exam. Can she get admission to NIT Calicut for B.Arch under NRI quota.
Sincerely,
Abdul Kader
Dear Abdul,
Since your daughter is studying in India, she is not eligible for DASA or NRI quota. She is only eligible for NRI Sponsored Quota which is not available in NIT-Calicut. In NIT-C, there is MEA Quota (i.e. Ministry of External Affairs) and if you have some ‘jack/jugaad’, you may try this route. Refer this link: http://www.nitc.ac.in/nitc/admission/MEA-INFORMATION-SHEET-NITC-2009-TO_WEBSITE07-07-09.pdf

Dear Sir
Really happy to see a blog like this and I appreciate your contribution. I am a graduate from NIT Trichy ( admitted through DASA ) and would like to have some info. I have two brothers ( twins ) who we wish to get admission under this scheme. They prefer non circuital branches ie mech , prod or civil. ( primarily mech ) and we would prefer NIT calicut and also surathkal. If you have the PCM mark distribution for the above branches for these colleges, would you mind sending this data by e-mail.
I would be extremely grateful for the above.
Regards
Aravind
Dear Aravind,
Thanks for being on board. I would certainly send you the required info, but this board would indeed be grateful if you can share with us following details
1) How difficult it is for a DASA candidate in passing semester exams if one is average (if we consider reference as: <85% PCM in CBSE XII)?
2) How difficult it is for a DASA candidate to cope us mess facility/hostel facility and tips to handle it?
You feedback would be appreciated by thousands of parents visiting this board.
Regards
Raj
With regard to you query, I have broken down my answers as follows
1) If a person is ready to work hard, then an average student can cope very easily in the NITs. I certainly believe that marks scored in the CBSE exams are not a very good indicator to help predict performance of NRIs in NITs but I am happy that such a criteria has been introduced so that competition is introduced in this quota. Initially , during my team the quota was on a ‘first come first serve ‘ basis. There were people with 70 % PCM in ECE , EEE and other branches and they all coped well.
2) When I joined the hostels were horrible ( NIT Trichy ). They have been gradually improved and augmented over the years. Of course there will be an initial aversion by the student towards the surroundings but once you meet your hostel mates and start living one just takes it in his/her stride.
I do have to mention that NIT calicut used to have much better hostels than NIT trichy. I am able to comment on these two as I have only visited these. There is a lot of work going on at these places so further improvements might have taken place.
Dear Sir,
Thanks for your informative articles and replies. One query: If an NRI student does well in the AIEEE entrance test, and earns a seat in competition with the general India-based candidates, will he be allowed to study without having to pay the USD 4000 pa fees?
Dear Chittaranjan,
The NRI applicants are very much free to choose either seats thru AIEEE that only costs about Rs 50K per year or DASA seats. I know many NRI candidates who refused seats thru DASA and instead chose ‘merit’ selection. No problems at all. Infact, I like the things ‘on merit’- go for it.
Regards
Raj
hello sir
i have done my 10th and 12 th from india but my birth certificate and citizenship is of us…. can i avail the dasa scheme still?
Dear Tarun,
For DASA scheme, the candidate has to do 11/12std from outside India and have stayed abroad for 3 yrs out of last six years. You are therefore, not eligible for DASA. However, you can apply under NRI sponsored candidate in few govt colleges (non-iit/non-NIT) and most private colleges.
Regards
Raj
sir i read this on the edcilindia website
2) Eligibility Criteria for Admission:
(a) Age: Maximum age limit is 25 years as on 1st October of that particular year.
(b) Residence:
Candidates must be Foreign Nationals/Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) studying in any country (including India).
(OR)
Indian Nationals studying abroad. (The Indian Nationals must have had at least 3 (three) years of education in a foreign country during the last 6 (six) years and must pass the qualifying examination (inclusive of 11th & 12th standard or equivalent) from abroad only)
here residence says including india … for foreign nationals which i am how ever i was an indian national then i would need the requirements you mentioned isnt it so?
Dear Sir
I had an oppurtunity to go through last year’s application form for DASA. My doubt is after I fill the 15 choices and in the event there is no availability of our choice, how am I communicated back about the balance availability of branches / colleges based on which I can ask for a re-allocation. Will EDCIL provide us the list or do we need to get in touch with them.
Thanks & Regards
M.Prakash
Dear Prakash,
Candidates who don’t get their preferred choice (if all choices are top choices but not supported by PCM%), would get chance in first-reallocation- if form for re-allocation is filled. It is always best to communicate with EdCIL in such cases where no choice was fulfilled. There are enough seats in the scheme and one will get something if eligibilty criteria is fulfilled.
Regards
Raj
Dear Raj,
Thanks for your valuable informations about UK Engineering Colleges & also for a very clear view on IP university. Your informations are very much helpful for assessing and selectng college, which is the most important decision at present. I feel, having many options would not help you much but having one good option might change life.
One query: How would you rate Singapore Studies (NSU, NTU etc)?.
With best regards,
Rajendra Singh
Dear Rajendra,
In my personal interactions with friends, I understand that Singapore NTU- College of Engg is a good option for Indians who miss to get admissions to IITs or top NITs with best branches. I understand the college features amongst best 10 Technical colleges in Asia. The univ likes CBSE/ICSE schooling applicants with pretty good marks (well over 90%). For those who would like to know more on this may refer to the prospectus of NTU in download section of this website.
I would welcome comments of readers from Singapore for their views on this topic. Readers on this board are most welcome to provide their comments on any topic or ‘comment on comments’. Let’s help each other.

Raj
Dear Mr. and Mrs. Raj,
I just happened to come across this and got locked into it reading thru it from evening till midnight.
It is really a great service you both are doing ! Kudos to you.
Thank you and Best Regards.
p.s:
I also have a child completed GCE “O” last year and now doing his Pre U.
Going thru this wealth of information help us to know a lot more about the options available !
Dear Mani,
One needs PCM % of about 94 for the list of branches and NITs you listed (for NIT-W a couple of less points can also work).
Regards
Raj
Thank you so much for this valuable information. I have got also a problem which i feel could be best adviced by you.
Due to current market downturn here in Dubai we are relocating to India as I have found good placment there. My son is currently studying in Grade 9 from a reputed CBSE school here. Kindly advice if it is wise to change him to a school in hyderabad in Inida at this point to take up Grade 10, 11 and 12.
IF we do so he may not be eligible for any of three criteria cited above (DASA, NRI quota or NRI sponsored quota). My son scores averagely about 70%. what is the cut off % for admissions to NIT’s.
Is it advisable to stay here or move to Hyderabad.
Is this quota applicable for IITs also.
Awaiting your expert advice.
Dear Ravi,
Relocating to India is a vastly compex subject as it all depends on your current job prospects, working environment in Indian assignment, children edu prospects and monetary considerations.
Just for the sake of info, there is mangement quota in all private engg colleges if for some reason your child doesn’t pick-up acadamically in india(however, I believe Indian schooling system is different from here and he can do much better than your own expectations as he is still very young).
For DASA, EdCIL requiremnt is 60% in PCM and one can get something. There is no NRI /DASA quota in IITs.
Hope this helps a bit.
Raj
Thank You so much Mr. Raj for your response. Appreciate your self less help for NRI community in particular who are far away from the loop.
Can you advise me if it is beneficial for my child to stay here and study 10, 11 and 12 and avail the DASA Scheme for admission to Engg or Medical colleges. I am not too sure will the child be able to face the tough comptetion in India after being here so long.
We have BITS pilani here in Dubai which again prefers candidates locally. what is your opinion on Dubai campus.
my query is his education all the while was here in Dubai and if we move totally now he will miss the DASA Scheme. so all the 9 yrs of education outside India will not benefit him if he moves to India. Kindly advise what is the normal cut off percentage to obtain a seat under DASA.
dear sir,
i would like to know the % of marks required to get admission in nit calicut for mechanical or in any other nits of the south …i would be deeply thankfull if you could email the details of the marks required…iam studing in muscat for past 5 yrs, and presently in class 11
Dear Vinay,
Good to see a student on this board. My first advice would be try to clear AIEEE by yourself and show the world your real potential (Just to satisfy you query u would need about 94% for south NITs- mech was very much in demand last year due to recession- again I wish you don’t need any quota.)
Regards
Raj
yes sir, iam also in the process of preparing for giving aiee and kerala entrance examinations…but as in almost cases from my place here , most of the students who score aroung 90pc in class XII are unable to crack aiee , but i do have faith in myself that i wud do my best…sir can u also send the me the ranks required for admission in various nits and also the marks for all other branches in nits for dasa
thanks a lot for your reply
Dear sir,
Today is my first day on this blog and I was blown away by the quality of articles on it. I am studying in 12th std in Qatar and am preparing for AIPMT for doing MBBS. I don’t think I will become a good doctor by going for NRI quota seats and just like Sanjay, I will either qualify myself in this exam or wait for another year and prepare to crack this exam. I have been getting above 90% marks in academics.
Sir, on the lines of AIEEE, can you please-please-kindly-write something on how to crack AIPMT exam and suggest some mock tests. What rank is needed to get a AIPMT seat.
Thank you very much from bottom of my heart and anxiously awaiting your article on AIPMT.
(please forgive me if i wrote something bad as I am new here)
Sushmita
Dear Sushmita,
First of all we welcome you on board. And then we salute you for your determination to succeed all by yourself. Let us share with you that we vey much like kids just like you and Sanjay who have lot of potential and want to succeed all by yourself. We agree with you that to some extent we also don’t like quota system in any form- but at the same time we NRIs don’t have same coaching avalable that is available in Kota/Delhi region. But that should not mean that we hand over crutches to our kids and don’t let them stand-up on their own feet. Kids like you need all our support to bring a change to the attitude of NRI kids. We promise you that we would post a article on AIPMT very soon (we regret that such an article has been on our mind for about a month but couldn’t get enough time- but take our words that it will be out very shortly. When the article is out, a special prize awaits you and this time it will not be public – but you will find it useful:)).
Thanks again for being on board.
Raj n Neena
Dear Raj,
Thanks for your reply with clear idea about DCE.
Regarding UK universities, we had no other perspective, we were just impressed by their way of centralised application process (UCAS), their world rankings and easy admission process based on PCM% (no SAT). I want to know academic advantage over Indian best NITs.
IP-Univ has many affiliated colleges but most of them are not well known. Would you recommend any of these?
With best regards,
Rajendra Singh
Dear Rajendra,
Regarding your query on UK technical colleges, we will only say that it is not so popular like UK business education and does not provide best bang for the buck that is provided by US tech colleges. We will not like to discourage you from your decision as u would have more info than us.
Please refer to a list of top 100 engg colleges in India (DASA/NRI Quota page). Personally, we prefer colleges in top 25 (and than upto 50) and don’t see any IP-univ college in this band. Moreover, we like better college ranking than better college location.
Hope this helps to certain extent.
Raj
Dear sir,
First of all I congratulate you from deepest of my heart for your untiring selfless service. We hardly see such free service without showing any vulgur advertisements or message boards that are used by corrupt youth for indecent messaging. I value this blog more for this reason also as I have asked my daughter to go thru this once a day- to get some useful and motivational messages. Let me tell you that you are doing unprecented job that I have not seen in my life.
Sir, I have a query on the lines of Sanjay’s father. My daughter is also getting a projected rank of about 12000-15000 from the same package (very useful). Now suppose, she also follows your advice on improving the rank and manages to get a rank of say 8000- what are the colleges and branch that she could get with the rank. It will help me to have my options with DASA or merit admissions.
Once again thank you so much.
Best regards
Abbas
Dear Abbas,
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. We are very glad to see another parent trying to help out his kid to achieve their real potential. Let us tell you that your daughter is on her way to success- just keep her motivated.
Long-term goal-setting is very important for motivating a kid to keep touching their potential. In short-term it could be to get an AIEEE rank of 5000, next 4-year target to get a CGPA of say 8.5 in college and in the long term a goal to live a life of abundance-i.e have lot of pleasure yourself and give a lot of pleasure to the society. A Chinese proverb say s“The gem cannot be polished without friction”. It tells a lot on how to achieve glory and that the way to it is not easy. A positive attitude that we would reach there no matter what- is all it needs.
Coming back to your query, AIEEE works a bit differently. It has first counseling wherein a lot of candidates block the seat by paying regn fee and eventually many finally settle in IITs/BITS. The seats that get vacant are filled-in the second counseling when candidates who got lower branches in AIEEE 1st counseling can get better branches in this ‘sliding process’. Last year there were around 7 rounds of such counseling and candidates who got say metallurgy for 8000 rank eventually could get electrical and even mechanical depending on NITs that were participating in these counseling. So due to the complex process involved, it is very difficult to tell what one can get with 8000 rank in 2010, but based on previous year’s pattern, 8000 would be a good rank to get mechanical in some good NIT.
We wish your daughter all the very best.
Raj n Neena
Dear Raj,
Every time whenever I visit your blog, I find new informations, thanks for your all these replies. I have some questions:
1. How do you rate Delhi College of Engineering in comparision to best NITs of India?
2. What about IP university, Delhi? Whether their Campus for Chemical Engg. & CSE has any ranking?
3. Under AIEEE which colleges should be applied for Mechanical and which shall be preferred for Chemical?
4. My son also applied for UK universities (Manchester, Edinburge, Shefield, Birgingham, & New Castle) through UCAS. Is there any academic advantage in doing graduation from UK?
With best regards,
Rajendra Singh
Dear Rajendra,
1) DCE is at par with the top NITs. Since till last year DCE had separate exam, so thing could not be compared directly. However, from 2010, DCE will also admit students based on AIEEE and the ‘real’ comparison would start kicking-in. DCE has campus placements that can be compared with some of the IITs.
2) IP-Univ is not in top 50. I have placed my views on this board for colleges not in top 50.
3) There is a post on best AIEEE colleges. Basis my analysis, the branches also follow ranking of NITs only.
4) Before i comment on UK colleges, let me qualify my position as I may look prejudiced. I have lived and worked in USA and like their univs, corporates and lifstyle a lot. I have seen many students settling in USA after passing out grad from UK. In my view, if the final destination is going to be USA, why start from UK. However, since u could have explored the situation from different perspective and could have some relatives or connection to UK, and it may be a sound decision from that perspective.
Regards
Raj
Dear Raj,
Thank you very much with you clear and logical reply to my query for atmosphere in VIT.
I too feel that it all depends on the student and his/her orientation to tackles such kind of situation.
Every one….sometimes in the life…always faces some sort of discrimination on some grounds…even this happens globally….! Any ways….I will keep the fingers crossed and wait for her results… and will get back to you at that time for your able guidance…..!
Thanks a lot……!!
Dear Sir,
I am father of Sanjay. Mere words can not describe the favor you have done to my child and on us. Just like many of the parents, I have put him under the tuition teachers available in the area. However, I never realized that it was not enough and my son had few queries to which he was neither getting answer within family nor with the teachers. He was actually looking up to someone who could fire his imagination and re-assure him that ‘Dear, you CAN do it- it’s easy’ and tell him exactly what to do. Your blog not only has huge wealth of knowledge but has a Guru in you who has the power to motivate anyone who comes near it. I really cannot describe how much charged up Sanjay is these days as he can distinctly smell that he can crack AIEEE.
Moreover, if you please don’t mind, I want to pay-up to the sponsor of the reward as I don’t actually need financial help but am only seeking guidance from you. Sanjay tried solving two AIEEE mock tests from the package and based on the rank predictor that came it, he is getting a rank of around 20,000. I kindly request you to guide us if there is a way to get a rank below 10000 for a good college and branch in AIEEE.
Thanking you once again
Ravi
Dear Raj,
Thank you so much for your prompt response. Your inputs are of immense help. Shall be grateful if you could kindly give me some idea as to what can be expected as cut-off percentage for Trichy, Surathkal, PEC, mnnit Allahabad, Jaipur, Kurukshetra and Nagpur. Just a broad idea. Thanks again for your inputs.
Best wishes,
Gurvinder
Dear Raj,
Please accept our gratitude to you and your wife for giving us this very important information on net.
We are looking for admission for our daughter in Civil Engg. at NIT-Trichy through DASA quota. Please let me know the PCM marks % set for the merit list in 2009 at Trichy, Calicut andSurathkal.
Thanks & Regards
Nandanan
Dear Nandanan,
Thanks for coming to board and asking your query.
I think I need to clarify on this board again that no agency (either institute or EdcIL) publishes PCM % set marks for any colleges. What I have is a personal collection of about 5-10% candidates that could be used as mere guideline to understand the big picture.
Regards
Raj
Dear Raj,
Many thanks for the reply.
We will be frequenting this board to know more on the developments.
Warm regards
Hello
I am a boy from nepal aspirng to join NIT, india under Dasa Scheme. I am not a NRI. I did my Intermediate level (equivalent to XI & XII in india) from TRibhuwan University(not CBSE). I want to do B.tech in ECE or CSE or IT from NIT. MY pcm marks in XII is 77.33% and in XI is 80.66%. Could you help me finding the best NIt for me. please suggest me the best NIT which i would get according to my PCM marks for three different faculty(ece, cse,it)!!!!!!!!!!!!
and also could you enlist differences between b.tech in IT and CSE ?
I hope you will help me solving my problems?
and,sir you r doing great job helping student to find best college for them. your blogs r good. i love them. Keep it up man!!!
thank you
Dear Milan,
Good to know people from Nepal are also following this board. For your marks and preferred branch except top 6 colleges (please refer the list of best dasa colleges in this very thread), you might try all other collegs (list of all dasa colleges in NRI/DASA Quota page of this website). If you take out computers hardware from CSE branch, you are left with IT branch- almost 80% similar.
hello sir,
thank you sir for your reply. SIr do you have got any idea about how students are sent to different NITs if they get scholorship through INdian embassy Quota? do they get branch of their choice or college?
Dear Mr. and Mrs. Tyagi,
The information on your blog is very practical and thorough which is a boon for those living outside India and intend to send their wards for pursuing higher education in India. Your efforts in promptly answering the queries is indeed commendable. Would be grateful if you could kindly advise me on the following :
1. Under DASA, out of MNIT Jaipur, NIT Kurukshetra and VNIT Nagpur what should be the order of preference for pursuing CSE?
2. In one of your reply you have mentioned that DTU Delhi has NRI quota for central government employees posted overseas. Where can I find the details in this regard?
3. Lastly, can you name some good Non-DASA colleges offering NRI / Management Quota seats and in which month do they normally notify these seats?
Shall be grateful for your feedback.
Best regards
Gurvinder
Dear Gurvinder,
Thanks for your comments.
Please find the itemwise inputs
1) Out of the given list MNIT-Jaipur based on the preferences of AIEEE qualifying candidates.
2) I have read it somewhere sometime back. Pl try it here http://dce.ac.in/
3) Thapar-Patiala, VIT, Dhirubhai Ambani-Gandhinagar, JSS Noida.
Good luck
Raj
Dear Sir,
I am now a follower of your site which gives valuable information regarding DASA admissions. Is it possible to have an idea on the approximate PCM % required for getting into Chemical or Instru & Control in NIT Trichy
Thanks & Regards
M.Prakash
Dear Raj,
Thanks for your valuable opinion about SRM, Chennai ….I would review my opinion about it…!
How do you rate VIT ?? I have noticed you have been mentioning some good words about VIT, Vellore.
A very indifferent question……though should nto be asked here…but being a responsible & anxious parent , i would prefer to ask it here….! May be…..your reply could throw some light on this sensitive issue…!
One of my colleague informed me that even if i get a chance, I should not think to admit my daughter in VIT, Vellore…The reason being that my daughter is a North Indian. I was surprised and asked him as how it would impact her? To my shock, he reiterateded that North Indian students are mentally harrased by group of South Indian Students to an un-aceptable level… which makes a cheering student depressed and dull…!
This half cooked information has killed my enthuciasm to consider VIT as her Mentor College….!
Please guide a worried parent honestly as it is very cruicial to know the fact…!
Warm Regards
Dear Ashu
I have noted down VIT-Vellore a couple of times just because it manages to get a rank in top 20 engg colleges and also has NRI quota.
Your query is very tricky regarding south colleges for north people. I will still provide some inputs on it.
As part of growing up, we gradually start knowing who really we are, how an individual should relate to society, their country, their own religion and other religions. The people in college campuses are raw- just like we all were in our days- as young people can hurt others feelings either due to their immediate environment or without realizing it.
Therefore, it is a fact of life that north Indians are treated differently in some parts of south (I have stopped counting how many times I have been told about such things). It is also a fact that our north-eastern brethrens are treated differently in north. It is now up to you- whether your child has the determination to deal with the issue or would like to remain away from it. Normally, first year is the most testing period for the student.
It is all due to such issues that though NIT-Surathkal comes at no. 3 amongst NITs (after NIT- Wara & Trichy), it is still most sought-after NIT under DASA scheme due to its cosmopolitan culture. Now, what if u don’t get a preferred branch in Surathkal, would you leave Trichy to join say, PEC- Chandigarh? The opinion gets divided at this point. There are many people who won’t go to Kashmir but at the same time there are thousand of couples who go there annually for vacation- just because the place offers something special which is not available in the region.
Hope this helps to some extent.
Dear Mr. and Mrs. Raj,
Thanks for the great wealth of information as well as replies to queries.I consider myself fortunate to land on this wonderful blog. I would like to convey my heartiest wellwishes to both of you for the priceless service you are rendering
My daughter completes her 12th in 2011 and all her studies is done in Gulf countries. I am looking for Engineering college in Bangalore only. I am basically from Bangalore. Please can you tell me
1. which are the colleges that come under DASA quota.
2, How to apply through NRI quota.
3. When will be the time for applying for all the categories.
Could you please give necessary information(fee details, cut off marks) regarding the admission.
I appreciate for your kind help.
Thankyou
Regards
Rao
Dear Nandini,
Thank you very much for the complements.
For all info related to Dasa, please visit this page on website: http://nrispeaks.wordpress.com/dasa-nri-quota/
Following is itemwise response on your queries
1) List of dasa colleges is given in the link I just mentioned above. There is no Bangalore based dasa institute and you would need to apply under NRI quota in private/govt colleges
2) For NRI quota, you would need a letter to the effect of being NRI from Indian embassy of the gulf state. Then you would need to apply to the individual college alongwith CBSE marksheet and do some ‘bargaining’. Unless there is a great need to be in bangalore only, I would suggest to consider NIT-Surathkal. It is much-much— better than any college in Bangalore.
3) For NRI quota, please browse thru the individual selected college’s website and see the info available as the admissions are not centralised. for dasa, 30 June is normally last date for application submission.
Good luck
Raj
Dear Raj & Mrs. Raj,
Your blog…..the flow of posts on it and gravity replies from you has made it a galaxy of intellectuals and also made me a regular visitor….!
Very few are the people…who think for others selflessly & with so much of dedication…hats off to you guys….!
I am also impressed to notice a post from Sanjay, a class 12th student from UAE…. who raised a relevant query regarding committing silly maistakes in exams….. many students do the same … including my own daughter… and loose 20 to 30 % marks ,,,especially in Maths….wherein… each and every wrong figure makes a diffrence…. that can make or break the result….!
Your reply to his query is so encouraging & logical that I decided to copy and send it across to my daughter…! Hope she gets some motivation out of it……. Thanks to Sanjay also for raising this query….!
Another query ….. Whats your opinion about SRM university , Chennai for B.Tech Course….its website claims a lot about is curriculam and placement potential….! Their website also appears to be an attractive and luring portal. But whats the fact ? It has got a ModiNagar campus as well. How is that?
Thanks for your usual promptness and guidance….!
Warm Regards
Dear Ashu.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts regarding Sanjay’s case.
I have also seen their website and their brochure, however, I can tell you that this college/univ is not amongst top 50 engineering colleges in India. I would like my child to pass-out from a college which is preferably amongst top 20 colleges or if not possible, increase the limit upto 50. Beyond that my take on the issue is- it’s not worthwhile as normally recruiters or friends would ask ‘come again, did I hear SRM’.
Good luck.
Raj
Dear sir,
Your blog is a sea of information. I am lucky to have come across this as it has been of tremendous help to parents like us. My son will be appearing for cbse in March and we are planning to admit him in a good engg. college in India. He would like to study Mechanical engg.
Thanks for all the useful info. please do keep us posted on Dasa scheme 2010-2011 as this would be a very good option for him besides Nri Quota.
Dear sir,
I would remain indebted to you as I have been silently following your blog for quite some time. I study in UAE in 12th std. Today I read your new article on ‘How to Crack AIEEE ?’. Sir, I have also been making a lot of silly mistakes in maths and physics and loose about 20% marks. Can you kindly guide me how to improve my performance? I really want to crack AIEEE exam so that not only I save some money for my parents (i.e. DASA) but also improve my self-esteem by qualifying by myself.
Thanks again
Sanjay
Dear Sanjay,
You have given me new injection of hope by saying that u are trying to succeed by yourself rather than relying on some quota. By saying this, you have made my day as from day one of starting this blog my intention was to involve our youth for self-realization- that education is very important and sometime in life we would have to stand-up on our own feet.
Coming back to your query on ‘silly mistakes’ I can tell you frankly that it is a symptom of ‘less than complete preparation of subjects’. You are the best person to improve on this by doing 1) Identify topics where you most commonly make mistakes 2) Practice regularly on those identified areas (our brain needs to see the same thing frequently 3) Try to solve higher standard question paper/mock tests (say IITJEE if u are trying AIEEE) and finally 4) Have faith and belief in yourself. Nothing is impossible and I can tell u that AIEEE is really easy exam.
Dear, I am there for you anytime- just let me know.
A refreshing view from my reader. I am thinking to reward people like you (just give me sometime on this). I invite suggestions from my blog readers.
All the best.
Raj
Dear Sir,
I consider myself extremely fortunate to land on this wonderful blog. Before going into the real issue, i would like to convey my heartiest wellwishes to both of you for the priceless service you are rendering and the guidance you are providing to the curious parents like us. God bless you.
Sir, my son is in class XI now and expexted to score 80-90% in class XII. We need your advise (merits & demerits) if we allow our son to take up engineering in UAE Colleges .
Your advise will surely help me taking a decison .
Dear Syed,
Thanks for being on board.
Most professional colleges are judged on few parameters before anyone jumps into it for most important part of their life. I can name them as following:
1) Quality of academic input (i.e. faculty quality, PhDs, patents), 2) Job prospects (quality of recruiters, salary etc),
3) Reputation (amonst students, HR & industry),
4) Industry interface
5) Infrastructure
6) Expenses
Please judge for yourself if the UAE colleges can compete themselves with the top NITs in India on these parameters. Decision is all yours.
All the best.
Dear Raj,
Thanks again for your prompt reply. As I informed earlier, my son is not eligible for DASA, he did studies upto 10th in India and 2 years in Dubai for 11 & 12th. This year he is appearing in12th. He is looking for any of Chemical or Mechanical or Civil branches. Which is best college for NRI quota (through Ed CIL or without Ed CIL), probably in north India?.
It would be very helpfuf if you may provide the PCM cut off % for different NRI admissions like in NIT-Trichy, Thapar, Anna, UDCT-Mumbai etc for these branches in the last year.
With thanks and regards.
Rajendra
Dear Rajendra,
The best option for your son would be to apply to NIT-Trichy under NRI quota. NIT-Trichy has separate quota for NRIs whose children has only done two years (11/12th) overseas. I also like Thapar Institute and can become your 2nd pref since the institute manage to come in top 20 Engg colleges in India (though fee is higher at about $8000 per year). Admissions process in the other institute noted by you is opaque and I would rather not prefer to comment. Other colleges in North that I like is HBTI-Kanpur and JSS-Noida that you can try under NRI quota. These colleges are counted in top 50 in India.
Regards
Raj
Thank you so much Raj.
Appreciate your efforts again, and we shall continue to follow this forum.
Kind Regards
Siraj
Dear Raj,
Thanks for the great wealth of information in your posts as well as replies to queries.
My daughter will be appearing for 12th exa in 2011 & has started preparations for the same. Kindly advise on the following queires to help her understand requirements of various alternatives:
1. Required marks (last couple of years & expected trand for 2011) for admission to CSE, ECE, IT, Chemical & Mechanical for various NIITs under DASA. How’s is scene for VNIT Nagpur or NIIT Surat?
2. Why is it that your advise to keep away from ‘fringe branches’ like CSE?
3. Only few NIITs find mention in your posts as well as questions. How are other NIITs & their ranking (irrespective of NRI preferences)?
4. Is there any avenue for NRI admission to Government / Top Pvt. Engg colleges at Pune or Mumbai?
Thanks a lot in advance.
Best Regards
Dear Atul,
Thanks for being on the board and asking some well-meant questions. Please find below my inputs
1) First thing first- NIT ranking. For NIT ranking, we have considered the preferences of AIEEE qualifying candidates alongwith the survey by India Today, Outlook etc. Purely based on preferences of AIEEE top ranking students, best NITs w.r.t to DASA are NIT-Wara., NIT-Tri, NIT-Karn, NIT-Allah, PEC, NIT-Cali, IIIT-Allah. To get into DASA institutes, the competition is tough only for these topper institutes. This is the reason VNIT and NIT-Surat does not find much mention on this board as NRIs want to get the best available options. The required marks are more than 90% in PCM in these top NITs.
2) Infact, I believe that the CSE is the best branch for the best students. I have a separate post on the subject (CSE or ECE? ) on this website. I kindly request my visitors to read the blog in totality before putting words into my mouth that CSE is a ‘fringe branch’. There are people who only read one page of blog and will carry the wrong message with them. No hard feelings here as we are discussing about the careers of new generation.
3) Please read my another post that only discusses the best AIEEE institutes (irrespective of NRI preferences). NRIs are smart chaps afterall as their pref is in synch with overall ranking.
4) MH-Engg-CET has rules to take 5% NRI students whose parents (atleast one) are residing in gulf. The scheme is not fixed and gets published each year and one needs to apply directly to institute and ‘butter the palms’ of concerned authorities.
My intent here is to publish only correct ‘scene’ so that the the parents don’t take any un-intended conclusions. I thank you once again to be here on board.
Regards
Raj
Dear Rajendra,
Thanks for the quick reply & great information.

Atul
Dear Raj,
My son will be appearing for class X exams this year 2010 in OMAN. He is above average and can expect to get 80+ % OCM in class XII in the year 2012.
We are meeting the 3 year criteria of DASA.
We prefer colleges in the north India
Kindly advise which will be the best option for him to study here or do his XII in India.
Regards,
Ajay
Dear Ajay,
It is a tough call to remain here or send the child back to India after 10th std as lot of factors come in between. Overall, my take on the whole issue is- if the child has in himself/herself good stuff to clear IIT JEE you may think about sending your child to India. If not, remaining here is the best choice as chances of DASA scheme continuation is pretty good for another couple of years. Just for info, I have seen a trend of NRI wards moving back to gulf in 11th std to take advantage of the scheme.
Good luck.
Hello Mr.Pramod,
First of all Thanks for all the information on this blog its a real help. Keep up the good work.
I am an NRI and my son will be writing his class XII CBSE board exam this march. He is hoping to get a score between 75-85%. I want to get him a seat through DASA scheme in NIT Trichy(Information Technology). Could you please give necessary information(fee details, cut off marks) regarding the admission.
Your help in this regard highly appreciated.
Dear Francis,
For IT branch in NIT Trichy, PCM of about 88-90% would be required. We have all info about DASA scheme under NRI/DASA page of this website where complete application form and prospectus is given for last year.
Regards
Raj
Dear Mr Raj ,
Wonderful compilation of necessary info !!
I also landed on your blog accidentally , but found it very useful as I went through all the queries
I am now working in Indonesia for last three years .
My son Kartik , domicile of Karnataka , has studied in Bangalore throughout .
He has studied till 10 th in ICSE and taking up 12th exam in March 2010. (Karnataka State Secondary Board ) exam
The first choice of engineering colleges we are looking for is NUS or NTU in Singapore .
I have gone thr their respective websites and we are in the process of applying them thr due
process of online application . What I could not get info is whether they have any quota for
a specific category or any management seats . If you have any information on the same ,
I will be glad to know.
My queries :
Dear Pramod,
Nice to know that you found this blog any useful. For Singapore universities, I had also browed thru NUS website some time back (and simply didn’t like the website design due to broken links and complex design.). As far as I understand, there is no quota of whatsoever nature atleast from our perspective. The most important thing there is SAT/GRE scores as lots of people these days apply to Singapore univ due to attractive fees regime, chances of resident status and the things happening in Australia. Please note that some Singapore univ has tie-ups with IITs and admission criteria includes option for competitive exams like IIT JEE.
Good luck.
Dear Mr Raj ,
Thanxs for your earlier reply.
For the NRI sponser admission process , do we need to to track the respective institutions
individually and apply separately ? If we have not applied so far , have we missed any institutions ?
which are still open for NRI sponser quota ? ( I find that VIT cut off was in Dec 2009 itself . ) In your main page you have informed that RV Engg , Bangalore is available for NRI sponser quota , but I did not find that name in the list of colleges. Please guide me whether I am looking at the right info
thx .
Pramod
Dear Raj,
Thanks for all the information on this blog its a real help
My son will be appearing for his class 12 exam & i am confused as through which scheme i have to apply for admission for engineering (Dasa Scheme or Self financing Scheme). He has done his schooling in kuwait. Please Help as to how i should be applying.
Regards
Dear Sonia,
If your son has done 3 years of schooling abroad including 11/12 std, you should apply under DASA scheme. People only apply under self-financing scheme when the candidates has not scored 60% in 12 std PCM or not completed 3 years abroad. EdCIL (a public sector co.) is the coordinating agency for implementing DASA scheme and you need to apply per EdCIL noticification. Form submission last date is normally 30 June but please keep following this blog so that you don’t miss-out the notice.
Good luck
Dear Raj,
A very good website.
Can you let me know what are the cut off percentages for various coursed under DASA scheme in various colleges. This will help decide my options.
There is also no update for this year i.e. 2010 admissions and also about scholar ship exam.
Thanks in advance for your guidance.
Dear Ajay,
The PCM details are sent at you email. For DASA admission noticification, there is enough time as the form submission deadline is normally 30 June. As for SPDC, I think the noticification is already late to be any useful for current XII std. candidates. I would update the blog as soon as any latest news breaks out.
Regards
my son is appearing for ISC board (12th) this march. What % is required in PCM to get him into NITK Mech branch?(DASA/NRI) Is hostel stay a must under DASA scheme??/ please clarify my doubt.
For NITK-Mech about 94% is reqd in PCM. Infact NIT-Surathkal is the most popular institute for NRI DASA candidates because of ‘cosmopolitan’ nature of the city, unlike few other top NIT’s location.
Regarding hostel, the EdCIL rule states “All the Institutes are residential where the students are required to reside in the campus”. I can understand where you are coming from while asking this query as the hostel/mess facilities in some of these NITs is not upto mark for many people who are accostomed to ‘convenient life of 24 hour power, water and McD’.
Good luck.
Dear Raj,
Thanks……!
I will try out for HBTI or IET Lucknow….! Hope that….similar to UPTU NRI sponsored children quota.there should be such quota prevailing in other state colleges as well…! please inform which states offer NRI sponsored children quota?
My daughter is a domicile from UP ….can she apply to NRI sponored quota in other state goverment colleges?
Thanks in anticipation…..!
Most of the Indian states do have rules to take about 5% students under NRI/PIO/Foreign National Quota in govt -aided colleges. The quota rules are not fixed and depend on state govt noticification each year, unlike transparent system of Edcil. There is some ‘donation’ to officials that go with the system. I know about Maharashtra that does have quota for NRI sponsored candidates for MH-Engg-CET.
Dear Raj,
Thank you once again…!
If i am ot wrong UPTU admits NRI Sponsored children to govt colleges also ….!
Please confrim and if possible give the detials of such colleges.
Regards
Dear Ashu,
UPTU colleges have 5% quota for NRI candidates studying abroad. If there is not much applications from NRIs, second preference is given to NRI children studying in India. You may try your luck from this route (good chances to get seat till DASA continues! another reason for DASA to continue!!). HBTI Kanpur is best govt College followed-up by Institute of Engg and Technology-Lucknow under UPTU govt colleges.
Please refer http://uptu.nic.in for more info.
Good luck.
Dear Raj,
Thanks for a prompt reply….you are indeed great…!
Our preference would be North India … if dont get….then any where in india wil do.
I heard that even UPTU allows NRi sponsored candidates with UP domicile….!
Please suggest accordingly….!
Thanks once again
Dear Ashu,
In north India best private college is Thapar-Patiala and second rank goes to JSS-Ghaziabad. As for UPTU college ranking, following colleges are decent
(All-Ghaziabad-based)
A.K.Garg Engineering college, Krishna institute of engineering and technology, Academy of Technology and Management sciences,
Krishna engineering college, Raj kumar goel institute of Technology.
All the best.
Dear Raj,
Your blog is just amazing…….! Kudos to you and your wife for this selfless help to the worried parents….!
I salute to both of you for this social service…!
I am an NRI workign abroad since last 3 years…My daughter is appearing for XII CBSE this year in India….!
What are the best options available for my daughter through NRI quota in various colleges India?
Awaiting eagerly for your reply….!
Sear Ashu,
Thanks for your input. Talking about the choices available to you where the child is studying in India, you can only avail NRI Sponsored Quota (not eligible for DASA and NRI Quota in NITs/Govt colleges). Most private colleges in India have about 15% seats reserved for NRIs and out of that (NRI seats) about 25-50% is kept for NRI Sponsored candidates. The fee would be about $6000-$8000 per year. You would need to approach the colleges directly (Edcil not helping such cases). You would need a NRI certificate from your resident country’s Indian embassy for NRI eligibility that you have. Since I don’t know your location preferences in India, I am unable to specify relevant good private colleges.
Best of luck.
Dear Sir,
Like all other curious parents my child is also appearing for XII Exams in coming March-2010. It would be of great help help if I can know the cut off % in PCM for DASA Quota in NIT Trichy, NIT Warrangal & NIT Calicut for the following branches – Mechanical for the year 2009-2010. This information will help in menatally preparing for the right college. Kindly provide information on Anna University also for NRI students
Dear Iqbal bhai,
I have sent the info to you. Please keep in mind that such info is not published by anyone and therefore detailed info with each branch and NIT cannot be provided. I have made my personal efforts to collect data of about 50 persons (out of about 800 seats) for 2009 for larger interest of community. The info is indicative only and could change by a large degree.
Best of luck.
Dear Sir,
Thanks for the information provided, can a NRI apply both DASA and self financing NRI scheme, which NITs have this facility in South India? Is there an issue in applying both the categories simultaneously?
Dear sir,
i am a student starting my 12th CBSE coaching, this February.I’ve done my 10th,11th and going to do my 12th in Singapore.I’m planning to join a medical college in India for MBBS.Ive taken the first group, and it would be of great help if you could tell me the minimum PCMB% required to be considered for merit entrance. Can you also mention the other exams i might have to take to up my profile.
thanking you,
=]
Dear Rukhsaar,
For doing MBBS in India under ‘merit entrance’, AIPMT is the exam you should appear for. Thru this exam about 100 medical and dental colleges fill 15% of their seats. Total seats are more than 1000 thru AIPMT. Get more details about AIPMT in the brochure available in the download section of this website. Eligibility for AIPMT is to get only 50% in PCB and English. We are currently in the process to write articles on how to crack AIEEE and AIPMT that I would publish soon (certainly by this month end). COMEDK is another exam for Karnataka that you should try to give as the state has lot of medical seats apart from CET-Maharashtra.
Good luck.
Dear Raj,
Very good blog. Thanks for helping people with right info.
a) I would like to know which NIT is good for CHEMICAL Branch.
b) When I can apply for NIT -Trichy NRI quota(not Dasa). When NIT-Trichy notification going to be released. Whether I can aply with out the above notofication??.
Please help me on above.
Best Regards
Rao
Dear Rao,
Answer to your query is as below
1) For Chemical Engg, both NIT-W and Trichy are equally good. They are so close for this branch that the cut-off rank for Chemical in 2008 (2009 input not provided by CBSE as yet) was 6555 FOR NIT-W and AIR cut-off for Trichy was 6692 for NIT Trichy.
2) For both NRI & DASA quota, application has to be made only to Edcil, therefore you shall have to wait for their noticification.
Good luck
If candidate scored LXX% marks in pcm. Which college & which branch is prefered for him.
Thank you
Dear Nitish,
For a candidate with LXX% in PCM, the person can get all NITs except NIT-Trichy, warangal, Surathkal, Calicut, PEC-Chandigarh and possibly MNNIT -Allahabad. Though the person can get any branch of his choice in the other NITs, I would not recommend to take circuit branches like CSE, ECE, Elec, I&C based on feedback I receive.
Regards
Dear Sir,
I have gone through the information and found it very useful for the public and appreciate your efforts.
Further, my daughter is apperaing for her 12th grade CBSE exams from dubai and has been studying here for the last 5 years without break. She is expecting 90% or above marks in the exams, and very keen to pursue her career in architecture through one of the IIT’s, preferably IIT Calicut. It would be of great conveience if you advise us about the ways and means of applying for NRI/DASA quota on architeture, and your valuation of the campus facilities and faculty in Calicut NIT.
Many thanks
Siraj
Dear Sir,
Kindly advise me which institution(s) in North India would be most suitable for ECE & CSE courses and what is expected cut-off for these two branches.
Warm Regards,
Anup Saxena
Dear Anup,
The best institutes under AIEEE/DASA scheme are in south (NIT-W, NIT-T, NITK, NIT-C). If you have to select a north Indian college for a particular reason, PEC-Chandigarh, MNNIT-Allahabad, IIIT-Allahabad are the best choices in that order. I have sent you the relevant file on sample pcm % for various colleges under DASA scheme. It would be evident that these colleges do not have similar heavy demand seen for south based colleges.
Regards
Dear Sir
Thankyou very much. The Information was very useful. You had also mentioned about filling the DASA form in apt manner so that the child can still land into the right college. I am actually looking for NIT Trichy and I am open for Chemical Or I&C.
Dear Sir
You website is extermely useful for people like us whose children are appearing for XII Exams in coming March-2010. Dear Sir, It would be of great help help if I can know the cut off % in PCM for DASA Quota in NIT Trichy, NIT Warrangal & NIT Calicut for the following branches – Mech , ECE, EEE, Chemical for the year 2009-2010. This winformation will help in menatally preparing for the right college & branch.
I once again thankyou for your excellent work in making this site.
Thanks & Regards
M.Prakash
Dear Prakash,
Due to sensitive/personal nature of the info and the scheme itself, I am refraining from posting the info publicly. However, I have sent the PCM% file at your email address. I appreciate your understanding in this regard.

Dear Raj,
Most of the Inventions are accident and you blog is same for me….
I am from REC, TrIchy 1982 (EEE) working in ABB, Saudi Arabia for the past 20 years…
You and your wife has a wealth of knowledge in this field and your service to the society is commendable.
I landed in this blog accidentally and spent 3 hours from 2am to 5am saudi time, because I have never seen such info in one place….
Thank you and congratulations for your blog, the best in its kind…
Best regards,,,

Dear Siva,
We are overwhelmed with your generous feedback. Kind feedbacks like yours keep our sprits alive to contribute positively to society. In gulf region, most of us do not have access to the education-related info conveniently available back home. We would be more than happy if this infomation can help to shape even one career better.
Thanks again.
Raj n Neena
The article is really very informative. My son is NOT ELIGIBLE for DASA as he did studies upto 10th in India and 2 years in Dubai for 11 & 12th. This year he is appearing in12th. He is expecting 75-85% PCM. What is best option for him? He is also appearing in AIEEE, BITSAT, VITEEE, IPU-CET, IIT etc. What about best option for NRI admissions in India or in other internation universities? He is looking for Mechanical, Civil or Chemical.
Thanks and regrads,
Rajendra
Thanks for your feedback. Even though your son is not eligible for DASA (requires 3 year overseas edu), your best option would be to apply under NRI Quota in NIT-Trichy under which anyone who has done 11/12 std can apply for this special quota. Please refer following link for more info
http://nrispeaks.files.wordpress.com/2009/12/nri-quota-nit-trichy.pdf
However, for above NRI quota he should score about 90% to get your preferred branches. Just in case, you can have a fall back option for Thapar- Patiala, Manipal, VIT-Vellore for applying under NRI quota for private institutes. Please do let me know the PCM % once CBSE results are out to discuss the matter further.
Good luck.
Dear Sir,
It would be of great help help if I can know the cut off % in PCM for different NRI Quota (NIT Trichy, Thapar, Anna, UDCT-Mumbai, Manipal, VIT etc) for the branches – Mech , Civil & Chemical for the year 2009-2010. Would appreciate if their latest rankings in India are provided. Whether DTU-Delhi & BITS-Pilani have NRI quota? What about option for BITS-Dubai campus as compared to NITs, Thapar, DTU, UDCT etc?
Thanks and regards,
Rajendra
Really thankful for this nice and useful information. We would also like to know about the SPDC scholarshp which the Edcil is providing if they are really enforcing the salary constriction/criteria to allot the scholarships. can u update me about the DASA scheme for 2010-11 and the SPDC scholarship exam announcement date as well as the site is not updated.
My son is in 12th, in Doha and aspires to do Mech. in Suratkal, Trichy or warangal. What i the required percentage for this branch in the above mentioned NITs. Whic NIT is the best for mech.? Will be very thankful for your info. Eagerly awaiting ur reply.
Rgds
Chitra
Dear Chitra ji,
Thanks for your encouraging words. As of date, there has been no announcement for SPDC scholarship for 2010-11. I can say that there is no stability of exam dates for this scheme as they keep changing it between April and Oct since the scheme is in place. DASA scheme for 2010-11 would be announced by Jan/Feb 2010 and application form submission is normally 30 June each year. I understand that Edcil would make arrangements to accept the application online alongwith manual process of marksheet submission by June.
As far as Mechanical branch is concerned, NIT Trichy is undoubtably the best amongst NITs(full stop). In the first DASA Scheme merit list, one can expect to get mech in NIT Trichy/Surathkal with 94% marks in PCM and this % came down to 91.6% this year in first-relocation list. In NIT-Warangal one may get Mech at around 90% PCM.
Hope this answers your query.
Dear Sir,
I have written my 12 examination in Riyadh. I got an admission in Florida Inst of Technology (FIT), Melboune, USA for BS Mechanical Engineering (My Choice) for fall 2010.
I got partial financial aid of $11,000 per year and have to pay the balance of $33,000 per year.
I am planning thro’ DASA scheme for southern state NITs for Mechanical Engineering.
Please evaluate and advise me which is better FIT or NIT. Finance support is not an issue…
Thank you, Adithya
Dear Adithya,
Congrats on getting some partial fin. aid. I think if financial support is not an issue and if you are ready to work hard and study further, you may prefer an US UG course. Be prepared to do MS from US as there are more H1B visas for post graduation.
Good luck.

Raj
